Risk Assessment Guidelines

EPA's Risk Assessment Guidelines were developed, based on recommendations from the National Academy of Science, to help guide EPA scientists in assessing the risks from chemicals or other agents in the environment. They also inform EPA decision makers and the general public about these procedures. The initial risk assessment guidelines related to cancer, mutagenic effects, developmental effects, exposure assessment, and chemical mixtures. Today EPA continues to develop new guidelines and also works to revise its original guidelines as experience and scientific knowledge improve.

Here is a list of the current Risk Assessment Guidelines:

Additional Information

In addition to these EPA-wide guidelines developed through the Risk Assessment Forum, some EPA offices and regions have developed risk assessment guidance tailored for their particular programs. You may wish to check with these offices for further information.
