EPA and the Hispanic Community
Partnering, Engaging, and Building Awareness
Washington, DC

Dear Colleague:

Recognizing the growing diversity of our nation, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA) wishes to foster a proactive engagement with leading Hispanic stakeholder groups and organizations. As such, we are proud to announce that EPA will be hosting its first National Beyond Translation Forum this summer.

This Initiative seeks to increase the relevance of the Agency’s mission to the Hispanic community through collaborative efforts designed to address environmental concerns.

The National Beyond Translation Forum will take place on September 15, 2008 from 8:30 am-5:00 pm. at the Hyatt Regency Washington Hotel in Washington DC. This national forum builds off of successful regional Beyond Translation conferences in EPA Region 6 and at the EPA Research Triangle Park lab. This year’s national theme is “Beyond Translation:  EPA and the Hispanic Community—Partnering, Engaging, and Building Awareness.”

We expect Hispanic leaders from non-profit organizations, local governments, civic groups, businesses, and academia to be in attendance.  Moreover, there will be a variety of workshops and panel discussions focusing on environmental issues of concern for the Hispanic community, relevant information on ways the Hispanic community can “go green”, and economic opportunities at EPA.

Please note that the online registration Exit Disclaimer deadline for the first-ever, National Beyond Translation Forum is September 9, 2008.  There is no registration fee, however, space is limited.

We look forward to seeing you at the National Beyond Translation Forum!
