CanAm E-Commerce Partnering @ Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, February 15-16, 2001.

The Department of Commerce’s Commercial Service in Vancouver is organizing a computer software-partnering event, in Vancouver, February 15&16, 2001. Participating small to medium sized U.S. firms will benefit from a networking reception and most importantly, pre-scheduled, pre-qualified one-on-one meetings with Canadian computer software companies. This forum was created to meet the demand of today’s high tech companies who seek alliances and strategic partnerships. Mission Statement

Telecom/ IT Matchmaker Trade Delegation to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, India, February 26-March 2, 2001.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Export Promotion Services Matchmaker Program, in cooperation with the Offices of Telecommunications Technologies and Information Technologies, will lead a Telecom/ IT Matchmaker Trade Delegation to New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai, India, February 26-March 2, 2001. The Matchmaker will target the IT sector. The focus of the delegation will be to match U.S. companies with qualified agents, distributors, representatives, licensees, and joint venture partners in telecom and the IT industry. Information Technology Dealmaker for Toronto, Canada March 8-9, 2001.

The U.S. Commercial Service in Toronto is organizing a two-day Information Technology Dealmaker to provide U.S. small- and medium-sized, export-ready, companies with a cost effective and highly efficient means to promote their products and services in the Canadian information technology market. In addition to meeting one-on-one, with pre-qualified potential business partners in Canada, participating firms will receive broad market exposure and valuable insights from market research and focused industry briefings. Participants will also benefit from various networking events including a visit to the Internet World 2001 trade show, scheduled for February 9-11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. Computer, Telecommunications, and Office Equipment Leadership Forum and Seminar Mission, Lagos, Nigeria, March 15-16, 2001.

The Commerce Department's Information Technology (IT) Industries group is organizing a seminar mission to Lagos, Nigeria, March 15-16, 2001. The mission will include representatives from a variety of U.S. IT and telecommunications companies interested in expanding in the Nigerian and West African IT and telecom markets, and will center on a one-day conference at the Muson Center in Lagos. Commerce Department officials from Washington will be participating in the conference and organizing the seminar mission. Mission Statement

Direct Heating Mission to Russia, March 11-17, 2001.

The U.S. Department of Commerce is supporting President Clinton's International Clean Energy Initiative through the development of a dynamic trade promotion program which emphasizes the positive contribution that American companies and U.S. exports can make to a cleaner environment and energy efficiency.

The Department's Clean Energy Trade Initiative focuses on developing market opportunities for U.S. companies in the energy supply, manufacturing, commercial, residential, transportation, and environmental technology sectors.

The objectives of the Clean Energy Trade Initiative include: increasing the visibility of U.S. companies as global leaders in "clean energy" technology, deepening relationships with key developing country policymakers, participating in the policy dialogue (regulatory reform, privatization, etc.) with government officials, expanding communications with private sector organizations, trade promotion, and long-term market development. Franchising Trade Delegation to Auckland, New Zealand and Melbourne and Sydney, Australia March 18-23, 2001.

The U.S. Department of Commerce's Export Promotion Services’ Matchmaker Program, in cooperation with the International Franchising Association, is organizing a Franchising Trade Delegation to Auckland, New Zealand and Melbourne and Sydney, Australia March 18-23, 2001. The Matchmaker will focus on locating master franchises and area developers in these markets. Sam Dhir, Matchmaker Project Manager, will lead the delegation. Mission Statement

Electrical Power Trade Mission and Seminar, Toronto, Canada March 19-20, 2001.

The Department of Commerce's Commercial Service office in Toronto will host the ELECTRICAL POWER TRADE MISSION & SEMINAR, March 19, 20 2001. This trade event and seminar is designed to provide small-to-medium export-ready companies, utilities and their suppliers with a first-hand opportunity to become familiar with the Canadian electrical power market, establish new and profitable commercial relations, and provide valuable trade and market-related information from up-to-date industry briefings. APRIL 2001 

The Brazilian Generics Reverse Trade Mission, Newark, NJ and Tampa, FL, April 1-7, 2001.

The U.S. Department of Commerce, Commercial Service Brazil is organizing and leading a delegation of 30-40 business representatives from the Brazilian pharmaceutical industry to the Newark, New Jersey and Tampa, Florida areas to meet with potential U.S. suppliers of generic drugs, raw materials and equipment.

The primary objective of the RTM is to match U.S. firms with Brazilian companies that can act as qualified agents, distributors, representatives, licensees, end users, and joint venture partners in the pharmaceutical field. The overall market for pharmaceutical products in Brazil has expanded with the approval of the New Law of Generic Medicines in 1999. The incentives in the registration process for foreign made generic drugs encourage pharmaceutical companies from all over the world to participate in this new and unexplored segment. Automotive Trade Mission to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and The Philippines April 1-13, 2001.

Trade Development's Office of Automotive Affairs will lead an automotive trade mission to Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and The Philippines April 1-13, 2001. The mission will include representatives from a variety of motor vehicle, automotive parts and accessories, original equipment supplier, automotive service equipment, aftermarket distributor/wholesaler, collision repair, automotive consulting and services, and automotive retailing firms. Participant companies would be interested in gaining a foothold in the ASEAN region, which has substantial medium- and long-term potential for growth in the automotive sector. A valuable part of the mission will be the participation of the Senior Commercial Officer in each country visited. In addition, at least one Commerce Department staff member from ITA's Office of Automotive Affairs will accompany the mission. The Department will receive assistance in recruiting and scheduling events from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), and individual members of the Automotive Parts Advisory Committee (APAC). Automotive Parts and Accessories Dealmaker to Toronto, Canada, April 18-19, 2001.

The U.S. Commercial Service in Toronto will host an Automotive Parts and Accessories Dealmaker in Hamilton, Ontario on April 18-19, 2001. This trade event is designed to coincide with the Canadian Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association (APMA) Annual Conference and Exhibition. Located in the heart of the automotive corridor of Canada, the APMA event is an ideal forum for U.S. companies to evaluate current business practices, exchange ideas, and obtain valuable market information on current trends, new technologies and the latest in automotive product and services. CS Toronto will have space on the exhibition floor to conduct one-on-one appointments and to promote the U.S. participant's product and services. Mission Statement

Medical Trade Mission to the United Arabs Emirates (U.A.E), Israel, and Jordan, April 21 through April 30, 2001.

The Director of ITA’s Office of Microelectronics, Medical Equipment, and Instrumentation (OMMI) will lead a medical trade mission to the United Arabs Emirates (U.A.E), Israel, and Jordan, April 21 through April 30, 2001. Firms participating in the trade mission will include a variety of U.S. medical firms interested in entering the medical market in these countries. The mission will focus on creating opportunities for high-technology medical and dental devices, related supplies, laboratory products and medical biotechnology products. Mission Statement
