Emergency
Planning and Public Safety Division On August 13, 1996, NTIA's Office of Spectrum Management announced the formation of a new Public Safety Program Office. The Public Safety Program was established to coordinate the various spectrum and telecommunications related activities and programs within the Federal Government as it relates to public safety. In January 2005, the Public Safety Division became the Emergency Planning & Public Safety Division as a result of a reorganization of the Office of Spectrum Management and William Belote is the Chief of the new division.
