Minority Serving Institutions Technical Assistance Workshop

September 22-25, 2008 InterContinental Hotel Dallas 15201 Dallas Parkway Addison, Texas 75001 The U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will host a technical assistance and capacity building workshop for Minority Serving Institutions (Alaskan Native Colleges and Universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, Hawaiian Native Colleges and Universities, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Tribal Colleges and Universities). The purpose of this workshop is to inform MSI community about the various partnership opportunities with Federal agencies (grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, and internships). Many of the educational partnership opportunities that are available with our agencies are in areas such as scientific research, education partnerships, funding and maintaining campus radio and/or television stations, and economic development. This is a FREE Workshop!

The Minority Servicing Institutions (MSIs) Program coordinates and administers a variety of Departmental initiatives to support relationships and partnerships with institutions of higher education, and to ensure equal access to all Department of Commerce grants, contracts, cooperative agreements and programs.

MSI Measurables/End Results  

  • Increase public awareness about the Department of  Commerce
  • Increase public awareness about the diversity of occupations at the Department of Commerce
  • Increase MSI competition and participation in federally funded programs
  • Increase student participation in the Student Career  Experience Program and other student employment programs
  • Increase diversity in the number of new hires for full time permanent positions

    LATEST HSI LIST ISSUED. The Office of Post Secondary Education, U.S. Department of Education has updated its list of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs).
