This provision provides funding to implement the ENHANCE 911 Act of 2004 (Public Law 108-494). This program will facilitate, through a joint program office between the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and NTIA, coordination and communication between Federal, State and local emergency communications systems, emergency personnel, public safety organizations, telecommunications carriers, telecommunications equipment manufactures and vendors involved in the implementation of phase II E-911 services.
Payments up to $43.5 million are authorized with funds for this program to come from auction proceeds deposited in the Fund by June 30, 2008
