Manufacturers' Shipments, Inventories, and Orders (M3)
Welcome to the Manufacturers' Shipments, Inventories, and Orders (M3) home page. This site is designed to help businesses complete their forms. It describes highlights, clarifies coverage and content, facilitates computer uses, and identifies other sources of assistance. Please contact us if you have any questions.
The Manufacturers' Shipments, Inventories, and Orders (M3) survey is currently the only survey which provides broad-based monthly statistical data on the economic conditions in the domestic manufacturing sector. It is designed to measure current industrial activity and to provide an indication of future production commitments.
Electronic Reporting
The M3 web survey has been revised and is now conducted through the Bureau's new "Census Taker"
system. The Census Taker requires:
- A web browser with 128-bit encryption (most browsers released since 1998 are sufficient).
- A username and password that is located on the form below the address label.
Please note the following:
Digital Certificates are no longer required to access the M3.
Please bookmark this web page to access the M3 web survey (now and in the future); Do not bookmark the Login page.
You will continue to receive a monthly e-mail reminder.
Due to recent upgrades of the Census Taker System, we have had to reset all previously Changed passwords. We apologize for any inconveniences this might cause you. Please contact us or the analyst on the front of your form for your new default password.
