CASU is an interagency program that consists of unique partnerships between a National Board of Directors, a Local Board of Directors, a Lead Agency and the CASU business unit. Each partner fulfills certain levels of oversight for the CASU business unit. The National CASU Board serves as an interagency coordinating mechanism for promoting and advocating CASUs. The National Board provides general policy guidance but each CASU operates autonomously. A Local Board of Directors made up of customer agencies provides policy guidance and oversight for the CASU, approves services to be provided, and functions as an information conduit with the National Board and the local Lead Agency. A Lead Agency, selected by the Local Board and approved by the National Board, provides reimbursable personnel, finance, and usually contracting support. The CASU Network Members are the autonomous organizations that provide operational and administrative support services to Federal agencies.
