RESEARCH INTERESTS

Efficient use of manure management:

  • Decrease potential environmental hazards associated with animal feeding operations
  • Develop techniques to reduce emissions and transport of ammonia from beef cattle feedyards using improved nutritional, and management practices
  • Determine and improve the feeding value of byproduct feeds produced from sorghum-based ethanol production
  • Develop methods to improve the utilization of and decrease the excretion of nitrogen, and phosphorus by feedlot cattle
  • Develop practical feeding and management practices which will decrease the quantity and improve the quality (i.e. increase N:P ratio) of feedlot manure without adversely affecting beef cattle production efficiency
