Research indicates that workplaces with proper hearing conservation programs have higher levels of worker productivity and lower incidence of absenteeism. The following are links to information that can help employers develop and implement a hearing conservation program.

  • Hearing Conservation. OSHA Publication 3074, (2002), 160 KB PDF, 32 pages. Summarizes the required component of OSHA's hearing conservation program for general industry. Covers monitoring, audiometric testing, hearing protectors, training, and recordkeeping requirements.
  • Noise and Hearing Loss Prevention. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Safety and Health Topic. Includes links to information on hearing loss prevention and workplace solutions.
  • Preventing Occupational Hearing Loss – A Practical Guide.
