Presidential Scholars 2007: National Recognition Week

The 2007 Presidential Scholars came from across the country to Washington, D.C., for a series of events in their honor June 23 - 27. These students were selected as Presidential Scholars based on their academic success, artistic excellence, essays, school evaluations and transcripts, community service, leadership, and demonstrated commitment to high ideals. They are some of our nation's most distinguished graduating high school seniors.

The 2007 Presidential Scholars's visit to Washington, D.C., began Saturday night, June 23, with a welcome reception at the National Air and Space Museum's Udvar-Hazy Center in Chantilly, Virginia. GO > See caption of the left
On Sunday, the Presidential Scholars convened in the Andrew Mellon Auditorium for the Teacher Recognition dinner, where they honored teachers who inspired them. GO > See caption of the left
Monday morning they met at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, where they discussed the role of technology in education. Later in the day, they presented their findings to Secretary Spellings. GO > See caption of the left
