Youth
The President’s Committee believes that the arts and humanities
should be part of the education of every child in America. The power of
the arts and humanities to develop creativity, to close the opportunity
gap and prepare all children for productive lives is essential for the
future of our nation’s cultural and economic life.
Coming Up Taller
Each year Mrs. Bush and PCAH’s Coming Up Taller
program recognizes and supports outstanding after-school arts and humanities
programs, especially those that reach underserved children and youth.
This initiative is a partnership with the Institute
of Museum and Library Services, National
Endowment for the Arts and the National
Endowment for the Humanities to showcase cultural excellence and enhance
the availability of out-of-school arts and humanities programs to children.
