Emergency Planning and Public Safety Division

On August 13, 1996, NTIA's Office of Spectrum Management announced the formation of a new Public Safety Program Office. The Public Safety Program was established to coordinate the various spectrum and telecommunications related activities and programs within the Federal Government as it relates to public safety.

In January 2005, the Public Safety Division became the Emergency Planning & Public Safety Division as a result of a reorganization of the Office of Spectrum Management and William Belote is the Chief of the new division.

All Hazard Warnings Systems: This multi-agency working group explores ways of improving the Nation's hazard warning systems to save lives.

Report of Outreach Efforts for Presidential Spectrum Initiative: NTIA hosted a two-day public safety spectrum management forum on the President's Spectrum Policy Initiative as they relate to public safety.
February 10-11, 2004

Public Safety Technology Interoperability Summit: NTIA's Public Safety Division and the Public Safety Wireless Network Program co-sponsored a 2-day forum on technology solutions for achieving interoperability among Federal, State, and local public safety entities.
