NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) station WNG-559 provides weather information and forecasts for North Central Oregon. Counties in the broadcast area include Wheeler and Gilliam.

Fossil NWR originates from NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) in Pendleton and transmits on a frequency of 162.550 MHz from Snowboard Ridge, Oregon using facilities provided by the Federal Aviation Administration and Wheeler County. Additional funding for Fossil NWR was provided by the U. S. Department of Agriculture Rural Utilities Service.
