Besides continuing to support on-going projects in other sectors that are in line with the National Clean Diesel Campaign, the Midwest Clean Diesel Initiative currently focuses on reducing diesel emissions from vehicles in the following sectors:

Ports
Rail
Agriculture

In addition, a geographic focus for diesel emissions in and around border areas in the Midwest is of concern, due to the volume of truck traffic and the highly populated communities around the border areas.

Additional areas of interest in Region 5 include focusing on transporting students to and from school.
