Mini-Grants
KCCOP Mini-Grants support drug, alcohol and violence
prevention activities. These funds have been made available
through the Washington State Department of Community,
Trade and Economic Development and include Federal Safe
and Drug Free Schools and Communities dollars.
The average Mini-Grant is $500. However, there are a
limited number of grants for up to $2,400. Final recommendations
as to amount of awards will be left up to the Community
Organizing staff based on amount of funding available
and targeted Risk Factors. Greater award amounts are used
with longer term interventions/outcomes and additional
measurement of outcomes will be required. Please
note: KCCOP Mini-Grants are reimbursement grants.
If awarded a Mini-Grant, you will be responsible
for the following:
- Submitting appropriate receipts and
documentation prior to receiving payment including Summary
Report, W-9 and Invoice Form
- Measurement tool (see required evaluation questions
on page 7 of the application)
- For a Mini-Grant over $500, State evaluation forms
will be required
- Copy of promotional material that will recognize our funding
support
- 100% match is required
**NOTE: Payment of invoices are dependent on receipt of
completed outcome measurements.

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

A. Any program or activity that works to promote healthy
kids, families and communities through reducing substance
abuse and violence will be considered for a Mini-Grant.
Priority will be given to projects that have the support
of a diverse coalition and to activities that focus on
our targeted risk factors (listed on pages 7 and 8 of

How long will it take to hear if I have received the

An award letter will be sent to you, whether or not you
have been awarded the Grant. These letters are generally
sent out within a week to ten days from receiving the
application.
What do I have to do to receive the money?
The KCCOP Mini-Grant is a reimbursement grant, in that
we will pay you back for money that you have spent up
to the amount of your award. In order to pay this money,
we need a completed invoice form, a completed evaluation
form, a W-9 form (these forms will be sent to you with
your award letter), your measurement tool (e.g., surveys)
and all receipts..
How long will it take to get the money?
Plan on four to six weeks from the time we receive all
your completed paperwork (including measurement tool)
and receipts.
Is there a deadline for applications and invoice paperwork?
Our fiscal year runs from July 1st through June 30th.
Applications can be submitted any time, but invoices should
be submitted within 30 days after your event. We must
have all your paperwork in no later than July 5th in order
to pay invoices from the previous fiscal year.
What can I use to meet my 100% match requirement?
Community match is required through our State contract.
This means if you receive a $500 Mini grant that you will
contribute the equivalent to $500 in match. You can achieve
this through cash or in kind contribution. In kind might
be staff time, donated space etc.
