The University of Massachusetts at Amherst in coordination with international host ecovillages developed one-semester study abroad programs and a "Year Abroad" program. Students can earn academic credit from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Programs feature both academic and experiential learning. They provide coverage of organic gardening, permaculture, renewable energy, appropriate technology, aquaculture, cultivated ecosystems, sustainability, sustainable living systems, and more. Currently, programs are offered in Australia, Brazil, India, Israel, Mexico, Peru, Scotland Senegal, and the United States.

World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF)
WWOOF links volunteers world-wide offering hands-on experience, in exchange for meals and accommodation, in organic and alternative farming. Also known as Willing Workers on Organic Farms, and World-Wide Orientation on Organic Farms.
