The CLP Fact Sheets, CLP Methods, SW-846 methods, selected methods for the Office of Ground Water and Drinking Water ,and other documents can now be viewed and/or printed using the Adobe Acrobat Reader. You may download the reader for free if you do not have Adobe Acrobat on your computer. The size of the pdf file is provided with the document title. This list is provider as a customer service from the US EPA Environmental Services Branch (ESB) Laboratory. This listing is an attempt to provide easy access to one source of EPA online environmental test methods. This page will be periodically updated to provide access to even more EPA methods online.
Fact Sheets, Analytical Methods,CLP Statements of Work (SOW), and other documents used in the Contract Laboratory Program.
The Analytical Methods section of this Web site contains information about Statements of Work (SOWs) under which CLP samples may be analyzed. Use the links below to obtain information about any of the analytical methods available from the CLP.Clean Water Act Analytical Methods
We publish laboratory analytical methods that are used by industries and municipalities to analyze the chemical, physical, and biological components of wastewater and other environmental samples that are required by regulations under the authority of the Clean Water Act (CWA). All of these methods are published as regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) at Title 40 Part 136.
National Environmental Monitoring Index (NEMI)
NEMI is a free, searchable clearinghouse of methods and procedures for both regulatory and non-regulatory monitoring purposes for water, sediment, air and tissues.

Drinking Water Methods
The Office of Research and Development, National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL) has historically been one of the most active EPA laboratories conducting drinking water methods research. Numerous analytical methods have been written and are available through the NTIS .
Some recently developed analytical methods for drinking water are avaliable for download from the internet. EPA recommends that laboratories interested in using these methods for compliance monitoring check the Federal Register to determine if and when these methods are approved. The methods are presented in Adobe Acrobat ® PDF format. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view PDF files. See EPA's PDF page for more information about getting and using the free Acrobat Reader.
Marine Water Methods
The online version of METHODS FOR THE DETERMINATION OF CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES IN MARINE AND ESTUARINE ENVIRONMENTAL MATRICES, 2nd Edition (EPA publication EPA/600/R-97/072) is presented in Adobe Acrobat ® PDF format. You may retrieve the entire Manual as a single file (1.6MB) or as individual methods. Inquiries concerning the Manual should be directed to DWmethods.help@epa.gov.
