TSCA Section 4 Testing and Section 8 Information Reporting
Section 4 of TSCA gives EPA the authority to require chemical manufacturers and processors to test chemical substances and mixtures. Persons importing a chemical subject to a Section 4 test rule may be required to perform the testing specified in the rule or apply for an exemption. See 40 CFR Part 790.Section 8 of TSCA contains the following subsections that may require submission of information to EPA by importers:
- 8(a) — General Information Gathering (including the Inventory Update Rule, requiring periodic reporting of volume, facility and exposure information)
- 8(c) — Allegations of Significant Adverse Reactions
- 8(d) — Health and Safety Studies
- 8(e) — Substantial Risk Information
