Past Program Activities, 2003–2008
Minnesota, 2003–2008

From March 2003–February 2008, the Minnesota Department of Education received funding from CDC’s Division of Adolescent and School Health to provide HIV prevention education and support partnerships and collaboration around helping youth remain abstinent.

Past Program Activities

Provided HIV Prevention Education

  • Collaborated with state agency representatives and community leaders to provide training and funding resources to support local communities in designing and implementing plans to assist young people in abstaining from sexual risk behaviors.
     
  • Collaborated with institutions of higher education to train students how to address HIV/STD prevention through a CSHP model.
     
  • Provided professional development and technical assistance to school districts and school staff regarding implementation of HIV prevention education within the CSHP model.
     
  • Collaborated with the American Indian Planning Group, Sexual Violence Prevention Action Council, and Minnesota Department of Health Community Cooperative Council on HIV/AIDS Prevention to provide youth throughout the state with HIV prevention programs.
