The Aquatic and Terrestrial Biology Programs are responsible for coordinating regulatory compliance with applicable laws pertaining to aquatic species, terrestrial species, and ecological systems for all transportation improvements in the state. Additionally, these programs have statewide oversight of practices, standards, training, and expertise for biology within ODOT. Goals of the Biology Programs are: (1) to assist the Agency with compliance of state and federal Endangered Species Acts and other biological regulations, (2) enhance aquatic- and land-based biological resources during construction and maintenance of the state highway system when there are opportunities, and (3) to operate within the realm of Context Sensitive Sustainable Solutions (CS3) while developing and implementing asset management, technical expertise and continuous improvements.
