Progress with IDSR implementation 2001 - 2004
The World Health Organization (WHO) African region is made up 46 Member States. As of 2004, 44 of these countries have started implementing the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response (IDSR) strategy.
Division of Emerging Infections and Surveillance Services (DEISS), the COGH/Division of Epidemiology and Surveillance Capacity Development, and the NIP/Global Immunization Division work regionally through the WHO African Regional Office (AFRO), and also conduct focused activities with African ministries of health in targeted countries.
