GOVERNOR LINGLE HONORED AS 2007 HAWAI`I DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN

August 2 - For her support of scouting and leadership in government, business and education, Governor Lingle was honored by the Aloha Council Boy Scouts of America as the 2007 Hawai`i Distinguished Citizen. 

"I believe so much in the concept of scouting and the universal values it teaches," the Governor said as she accepted the award.  "The Boy Scouts are raising outstanding citizens of Hawai`i, citizens of America and citizens of the world."

Governor Lingle was a Brownie as a young girl in St. Louis, Missouri and a troop leader while living on Moloka`i.  She currently serves as the Scouts honorary president.
