GOVERNOR LAUNCHES HAWAI`I BEACH SAFETY WEEK

Lingle joined Dr. Chiyome Fukino, director of the State Department of
Health, representatives from the City & County of Honolulu, County of
Kaua`i, County of Maui, County of Hawai`i and private partnerships in
launching
Hawai`i Beach Safety Week. "The traditional start of the summer
beach season means thousands of our school children, residents and visitors
will head to our beautiful beaches every day," the Governor said as she
reminded Hawai`i residents and visitors to check with a lifeguard if they
are uncertain of the conditions. The Governor and ocean safety
advocates also announced a new state/county website that enables anyone with
web access to check current conditions of beaches across the
state.
