STATE'S FIRST HAWAIIAN HOMES PROJECT IN WEST MAUI DEDICATED

April 13 - "This is an affordable housing project for Maui's people," Governor Lingle said during a dedication ceremony for the first ever Hawaiian homestead homes in West Maui.  "Many of the new homeowners are from the West side [of Maui] and it is gratifying to know they will own their own homes in their hometown," added Governor Lingle.  Last January, the 104 lots at Phase 1A of the Villages of Leiali`i were awarded to Native Hawaiian beneficiaries, including some who had been on waiting lists for more than 20 years.  Four families have already moved into their homes, and full occupancy of the subdivision is expected by August 2007
