GOVERNOR PROMOTES INNOVATION, SMALL BUSINESS AT HAWAI`I ISLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

April 16 - "Hawai`i's future lies in a spirit of innovation," Governor Lingle said as she discussed the Hawai`i Innovation Initiative during her keynote remarks at the Hawai`i Island Chamber of Commerce. The Governor also recognized the top performing small business owners, exporters, and advocates in the Big Island's small business community and presented them with 2007 Small Business Administration Awards. "These honorees are proving that innovation improves our quality of life," Governor Lingle added. 

During her remarks, the Governor also announced the release of $23,800,000 in construction funds for the development of the University of Hawai`i at Hilo's Science and Technology Building. The new facility will include classrooms, offices and laboratories for various science-related programs.
