GOVERNOR HONORS UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI

May 23 - "The University continues to produce outstanding graduates and we look forward to their groundbreaking work that will shape our state's history," Governor Lingle said as she joined the University of Hawai`i (UH) community in recognizing recipients of the 2007 UH Distinguished Alumni Awards. Ten of the Governor's seventeen Cabinet members are graduates of the UH system and make significant contributions to the State of Hawai`i.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards recognize alumni who have used their UH education to bring excellence to their professional achievements, provide inspirational leadership to others and develop exceptional qualities.  2007 honorees included Walter Kirimitsu, president of St. Louis School, Jay H. Shidler, real estate entrepreneur and philanthropist and Thomas P. Gill, attorney and recipient of the Founders Lifetime Achievement Award
