GOVERNOR SUPPORTS HAWAI`I FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION PARTICIPANTS

April 9 - Governor Lingle gave an "aloha send off" to the Waiakea High School FIRST Robotics team as they left Hawai`i for the 2007 FIRST Robotics Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.  Upon arriving in Atlanta, the students will be met by Lt. Governor and Mrs. Aiona, who are serving as part of Hawai`i's official delegation to the championship.  The Governor spoke to the students about their future education plans, and encouraged them to continue pursuing interests founded in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) skills.

The Lingle-Aiona Administration is supporting robotics as part of the Hawai`i Innovation Initiative to engage Hawai`i students in STEM education.  For more information about the Hawai`i Innovation Initiative, please click here
