GOVERNOR PROMOTES INNOVATION AT 6TH ANNUAL NATIVE HAWAIIAN AND 8TH ANNUAL ASIAN PACIFIC AMERICAN CONVENTION

August 22 - "The Native Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific Island peoples have helped define the essence of Hawai`i and made it a rich and diverse place," Governor Lingle said as she spoke at the 6th annual Native Hawaiian and 8th annual Asian Pacific American Convention.

The Governor shared that, like the convention co-hosts - the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development, she is focused on making life better for all the people of Hawai`i.

"Innovation is the key to our past, our present and our future," the Governor said as she outlined her Administration's efforts to find a "better, faster, less expensive, more environmentally-friendly way to do what we do in the world" through the Hawai`i Innovation Initiative.

Co-hosted by the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development, this first national gathering between two key community development organizations brought together Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders to share collective progress, find common ground and strategize for the future.
