"Finding solutions to ease Hawai`i's affordable housing shortage remains a top priority for my Administration.

Recently, I participated in the dedication of a 48-unit rental project in Mililani Mauka, as well as groundbreakings for 100 affordable rental apartments for kupuna in Wahiawa and Kapolei.

These projects, and others underway across our state, are the result of a collaborative partnership between the state, private developers and county and federal partners.

To help build more affordable homes, I have established the Affordable Housing Regulatory Barriers Task Force. It is part of a nationwide initiative to help local communities identify government regulations, practices or policies that can significantly increase the time and cost to build a home.

The task force is another tool to support my Administration's efforts to increase the supply of affordable housing for our residents."
