The Department of Labor's Office of Disability
Employment Policy (ODEP) provides resources to help people with
disabilities find employment. These resources include:
- Job Links provides a list of employers who
are interested in recruiting and hiring qualified individuals with disabilities
for open positions in their companies.
- Directory of State Liaisons
provides state contacts on disability issues in each state. The state liaisons
are typically the directors of the state disability commissions, committees, or
councils. The staff of these organizations can often provide information on a
multitude of resources available to people with disabilities.
- The President's New
Freedom Initiative Grants fund innovative programs and technical assistance
that aim to improve employment outcomes for adults and youth with disabilities.
The Office of Disability Employment Policy administers these grants.
Job search assistance is also available through local
one-stop career
centers. These centers are administered by the Department of Labor's
Employment and Training Administration
(ETA). ETA also offers assistance from
One-Stop
Disability Coordinators.
