Eligibility for Medicaid, including mental health services, can not be determined by the Federal government. Each state has its own process and criteria for participation. If you are looking for information about how to apply for Medicaid, including mental health programs in your state, please contact your state Medicaid agency, or click the link under "Related Links Inside CMS" for more information.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) supports the need for greater consumer involvement in mental health care as a means to foster recovery. Additionally, people with mental health problems are experiencing high rates of co-morbid health conditions and early mortality. SAMHSA and others have joined together to address this public health crisis through the "10 by 10" campaign to reduce early mortality by 10 years over the next 10-year time period.
