Dipolog City, in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, is located in the northwestern tip of the resource rich Mindanao in Southern Philippines. At the regional perspective, the province forms part of the Western Mindanao Region, otherwise known as Region IX, together with provinces of Zamboanga del Sur, Basilan, and the newly created province of Zamboanga Sibugay, and the City of Zamboanga. It has a land area of 720,594 hectares with a population of 823,130.
Investment and Tourism
*Zamboanga del Norte has abundant agricultural, marine and mineral resources. It has vast areas suitable for agri-forestry expansion, industrial and economic development. Its major products are coconuts, corn, rice, bananas, cassava, rubber and mango.
*Banking services in the province is provided by 8 commercial, 2 government, 1 cooperative and 12 rural banks.
*Its 400 kilometers stretch of coastline, fishpond areas of over 2,000 hectares, and 1,520 hectares of mangrove areas, freshwater swamps and marshes provide tremendous opportunities for marine and aquaculture production.
*The province is also richly endowed with tourism potentials from white-sand beached, mystic caves, resorts and hill parks like the 3003 steps Linabo Park, Dipolog City.
* Under the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995, the growth corridor comprising Dapitan City, Dipolog City, and the municipalities of Katipunan, Pres. Roxas, Manukan (DDKRM) is identified as the ECOZONE of the province.
