 In Focus
Control the Dust...
The time to eliminate black lung is now.
Control the Dust Nearly every coal miner knows first hand the destructive impact of black lung disease. It can devastate a miner's quality of life, take its toll on a miner's family, and lead to premature death. While much progress has been made in reducing respirable dust levels in the mines, black lung (also known as coal workers' pneumoconiosis and silicosis) continues to occur among coal miners.
