OVC publishes a variety of fact sheets intended to provide policymakers, managers, advocates, crime victims, and the general public timely information about OVC programs, grants, resources, and services. Children’s Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities 2008 (June 2008)
Since 1989, OVC’s Children’s Justice Act grant program has provided funds and technical assistance to help AI/AN communities to better handle serious child abuse cases from disclosure and investigation through prosecution and case resolution. This updated fact sheet (FS 000314) discusses activities funded through CJA, eligibility, and supportive training and technical assistance for grantees. e-only icon

Children’s Justice Act Partnerships for Indian Communities (June 2003)
This fact sheet (FS 000303) describes an OVC grant program that provides funds and technical assistance to improve the capacity of existing tribal systems to handle serious child abuse cases, particularly cases of sexual abuse.

Community Crisis Response (August 1999)
This fact sheet (FS 000148) describes OVC's role in providing support to communities that have suffered crimes resulting in multiple victimizations or communitywide trauma. e-only icon

Denver Victim Services 2000 Community Advocate Program (September 2001)
This fact sheet (FS 000272) describes the Community Advocate (CA) Program, an outreach initiative of the Denver, Colorado, Victim Services 2000 demonstration project. It discusses development of the CA Program, services provided by CAs in Denver communities, and the types of crime addressed by CAs.

District Specific Training (March 1998)
This OVC fact sheet (FS 000215) describes the background, purpose, and funding requirements of the District Specific Training program. Initiated in 1994 by OVC and the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA), the program provides U.S. Attorneys' Offices with a mechanism for requesting assistance in complying with federal crime victim legislation and training federal criminal justice personnel. e-only icon

The Federal Crime Victims Division (Updated October 1999)
This OVC fact sheet (FS 000209) describes the purpose and funded initiatives of this OVC division, including the American Indian-Alaska Native Crime Victims Initiatives. e-only icon

Funding Court Appointed Special Advocate Programs (October 2001)
This fact sheet (FS 000208) discusses the role of Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funding and how CASA programs must meet certain eligibility criteria for VOCA funding. Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) programs may use VOCA funds to support services to child victims of neglect and/or abandonment. Originally published July/August 1998. e-only icon

Initiatives for Improving the Mental Health of Traumatized Crime Victims (July 1998)
This OVC fact sheet (FS 171665) describes the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) discretionary and formula grant programs that support mental health services to crime victims. The fact sheet also details specific training and technical assistance resources in this area. e-only icon

Initiatives To Combat Child Abuse (August 1998)

OVC Responds to the Victims of Terrorist Attacks Against America on September 11, 2001 (December 2004)
The threat of terrorism and criminal mass violence against Americans, both in the United States and abroad, has increased in recent years. Telemarketing Fraud Prevention, Public Awareness, and Training Activities (August 1998)
This OVC fact sheet (FS 000214) describes four innovative projects funded by OVC to prevent and intervene in telemarketing fraud schemes that target elderly citizens. Terrorism and International Victim Assistance Services Fact Sheet (March 2008)
This updated TIVAS fact sheet (FS000312) incorporates all of OVC's victim assistance programs for victims of terrorism in the United States and abroad. It includes such useful information as allowable expenditures, examples of assistance rendered, and conditions that must be met for requests to be approved. e-only icon

Terrorism and International Victim Assistance Services Division (Updated August 2004)
This fact sheet (FS 000276) provides information on the services that OVC provides to victims of terrorism, mass violence, and crimes that have transnational dimensions. It includes program summaries and examples of past responses. e-only icon

Victims of Crime Act Crime Victims Fund (October 2005)
This OVC fact sheet (FS 000310) provides information about the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Crime Victims Fund and the various grant programs (formula and discretionary) funded using VOCA dollars. Also available in other languages.

What Is the Office for Victims of Crime? (November 2004)
This fact sheet (FS 000307) describes OVC's mission and major responsibilities.

What You Can Do If You Are a Victim of Crime (November 2005)
This OVC brochure (BC 000713) explains the rights of victims of crime and the compensation and assistance resources available to them and lists national organizations that help victims find information or obtain referrals. Also available in other languages.
