Welcome to the American Red Cross
of Western Connecticut

In Memory of Guido Tino

(L to R) Guido Tino, Stephen Woods and Silvan Gleissner
at the 2008 Paint the Town Red Dinner Dance.

The American Red Cross of Western Connecticut recently lost a dear friend, Guido Tino.  Guido served on the Board of Directors (1964-1974), was a First Aid Instructor, volunteer and financial supporter.  “Guido was such a great guy!  He was a longtime volunteer and devoted friend of the Red Cross,” said Stephen M. Woods, Executive Director of the Red Cross of Western CT.  “He will be greatly missed.”  A celebration of Guido’s life will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Holy  Trinity Church in Sherman.

Obituary

We provide services from our Danbury office at 2 Terrace Place, our New Milford branch office at 40 Main Street in New Milford, and from the Community Building, 1 Low Street in Sharon, Connecticut.

As you look through our site, you will see links to some great programs that we provide.

Emergency & Community Services

Our Disaster Services department is responsible for 24 hours a day response to local disasters from single family fires to floods and hurricanes (like Floyd).

Our Armed Forces Services (24 hour/7 day) provides the communication link to our service men and women and their families back home.

Our chapter also provides a transportation program, Wheels, which transports ambulatory frail elderly and those unable to manage SweetHART and are unable to afford other means.

To provide for those needing personal emergency response services, our chapter provides LifeLine.

Our International Services provides for tracing services (including Holocaust) through our national/international affiliations and International Humanitarian Law education.

Blood Services

Our chapter regularly supports local Blood Drives. Check the blood center website (www.blood.org) for complete info on giving blood and area blood drives.

Health & Safety Education

Our chapter offers a full array of educational classes in First Aid, CPR, AED, Babysitting, Lifeguard Training, Connecticut Child Care, First Aid and Preparedness, as well as Instructor Training, and more (see our Course Schedule).
