Friends of Anahuac Refuge In 1996, a group of volunteers at the Anahuac NWR established the Friends of Anahuac Refuge, a non-profit organization committed to preserving and enhancing the refuge through conservation, research and education. The group serves as a liaison between the refuge and the public. The membership represents a diversity of refuge users, including wildlife watchers, hunters, anglers, farmers, ranchers and educators.
