Review: The first reaction of most individuals when asked to watch a training video is "boring!, I'll do it 'cause I have to to placate management." Sometimes I feel the same way. But I strongly believe that good thoughts and traits need to be developed and repeated and that management, by making such training available and routine, makes the point that such good thoughts and traits are part of the character of your office (NWS) and should be part of the employees character and professionism and that if your office, and you as an individual, are to furish, progressive habits must be a habit.
Part 1
This video is what I would consider a typical Fred Pryor seminar - covers the bases but not in depth. Discusses creativity as a developed skill - the more one develops creativity, the more creative one becomes. It turns into a mindset, a habit vs being in a rut.
Part 2
As with #1 of the series, covers the bases but not in depth. Discusses ideas - a good idea does not have to be a new idea, does not have to be complex; education is often times not needed for good ideas and often gets in the way. Initiative is a matter of survival in our changing world.
Part 3
Much better video that previous tapes in the series - goes more in depth. Discusses several ways of making and evaluating decisions. Says an idea is no good unless one moves on that idea - being proactive is making decisions. People that make decisions are more successful that those who do not - they may fail occasionally, but are successful more times than not. (Personal note: management should not overly criticize failure - it shows the employee is trying to improve things and is not being status quo. A ship that stays in port is safe from the storm but doesn't deliver the goods.)
