Jackson County's mental health program provides a range of community-based mental health services to the citizens of Jackson County. JCMH provides information, referral and screening for all mental health concerns. JCMH provides immediate crisis assessment and intervention for mental health crises in the community. As the county's mental health treatment provider for the Oregon Health Plan, JCMH also offers a comprehensive array of treatment services to those individuals covered by the plan who have a serious mental illness and are in need of medical treatment.
Access and Crisis Services
The goals of the Access and Crisis program are to provide access to mental health and community resources and to provide immediate crisis assessment and intervention. Immediate crisis intervention and brief crisis follow-up are provided for all clients. Interventions include individual crisis support, referral to inpatient care, access to various forms of brief crisis respite support and regular crisis support groups at the clinic. Access to longer-term services is available for clients receiving OHP benefits following a comprehensive assessment and evaluation where we assess the medical need for treatment and develop a treatment plan. Help accessing benefits is provided for those likely to be eligible. The Access and Crisis program also facilitates discharge planning for those returning to the community from inpatient and residential treatment settings, and provides pre-commitment services for those unable to care for themselves. Please note that the Access and Crisis program is not able to provide emergency psychiatric care or psychiatric medications on an emergency basis.
Adult Treatment Services
Our adult treatment services include a range of treatment interventions which have been shown to produce effective results. Treatment plans are developed on an individual basis in collaboration with the consumer. Interventions include cognitive behavioral and psychotherapeutic interventions for anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorders and borderline personality disorders. Treatment is offered individually and in treatment groups. Psychiatric assessment and medication management are provided when needed. For adults with serious mental illness a range of services is provided to help consumers function as independently as possible in the community. These include medication managment, Strength-Based Case Management, skills training, benefit management, and counseling. We also support mentally ill adults living in adult foster homes and transitional housing.
Child and Adolescent Treatment Services
Jackson County Mental Health provides mental health services to children and adolescents with mental health disorders. Following assessment, treatment interventions are identified which can include cognitive behavioral therapy for anxiety, depression, eating disorders and trauma, and various forms of parent-child and family interventions including Parent Child Interaction Therapy. Psychiatric assessment and medication management are available and used in conjunction with psychotherapeutic strategies. We also provide Intensive Community-based Treatment Supports based on a wraparound model to families with children with serious emotional and behavioral disorders to enable them to stay at home and in school. Parent's active involvement in their child's treatment and their support of behavioral changes in the family are usually an essential part of the success of any treatment.
Other Programs
JCMH also offers some specialized treatment programs. The Community Outreach Supports services serves persons at risk for state hospitalization or jail due to their mental illness with an opportunity to receive services for several months or longer to see what can be done to help them become more stable in the community through intensive case management and other supports. The Age Wise, Age Well program provides clinically supervised peer counseling services to senior citizens in the community. The Youth Suicide Prevention program, funded through Garrett Lee Smith grant funds, provides for training in suicide prevention and intervention in schools and community agencies throughout Jackson and Josephine Counties.
