To preserve the ancient trees for future generations, we ask that you observe the following regulations (36CFR 261.50 (a & b)):

  • Removal of wood is prohibited. This includes both wood on the ground and any portion of standing trees.
  • Wood fueled campfires and camping are not allowed within the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest.
  • All vehicles must stay on developed, designated roads; off-road or cross-country travel is not allowed.
  • Pets must be leashed at all times while visiting the Schulman and Patriarch Grove areas. Dogs are allowed on the trails if leashed, we ask that you clean up after them.
  • Bicycles and other wheeled vehicles, except wheelchairs, are not allowed on trails or off of developed roads.
  • Discharge of firearms is prohibited within the developed areas of Schulman and Patriarch Groves; the Crooked Creek and Barcroft Research Stations and near trailheads, parking areas or other locations of concentrated public use.
