In June I was preparing a group of visitors to board the bus for a tour of the Refuge when we spotted a "lump" in the adjacent roadway. Turns out it was a fawn, deposited on the road by mom earlier in the day, and obviously told to "Stay put until I come back for you." When we returned an hour later, mom appeared, allowed the fawn to nurse for a few minutes, and trotted off with Bambi following on shaky legs.
