Meyers to Present Program on Painted Bunting in Savannah, Georgia in Celebration of International Migratory Bird Day It's Not Easy Being Green: Dr. Joe Meyers of the USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center-Athens will present an invited program on "The Painted Bunting: Bird without Equal (It's Not Easy Being Green)" on May 11, 2002 in Savannah, Georgia. The program is hosted by the Skidaway State Park in celebration of International Migratory Bird Day and will begin at 2:00 PM at the Park on Saturday, May 11th. Dr. Meyers will cover the 50-70% population decline of the Painted Bunting from the landscape, population, to individual nest scales. He will present possible reasons for these declines and results of five years of research on Sapelo and St. Catherines Islands. The attendees will also receive management guidelines for developed (coastal backyards), agricultural, and forested lands. Information on how to spot color-marked birds and help with long-term research will also be provided. You can celebrate International Migratory Bird Day, too.
