The
Transportation Safety Compliance function serves to assist line
organizations in assuring that Oak Ridge National Laboratory is
in full compliance with the Department of Transportation's (DOT)
Hazardous Materials Regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations,
Federal Aviation Administration, and Federal Railroad Administration
regulations, as well as with state and local requirements, and
with Department of Energy Orders, as applicable. The goal
is for to receive no Notices of Violation from the DOT; to ensure
safe, compliant hazardous material and hazardous waste shipments;
to operate the commercial motor carrier fleet accident free; and
to maintain a DOT Satisfactory Safety Rating. This is accomplished
by maintaining a management system of inspection and review designed
to prevent and/or detect violations of the DOT regulations and
to require immediate and positive corrective action to prevent
recurrences. If you
