All projects are weather-permitting.

--- H-1 FREEWAY ---

1) DRAIN CLEANING, MAINTENANCE (Night Work)
Nighttime single lane closures on the H-1 Freeway from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., nightly, for drain cleaning and inspections on the following dates and locations:
  • Monday, September 22, right lane in the eastbound direction between the Ward Avenue Overpass and the Keeaumoku Street Overpass
  • Tuesday, September 23, right lane in the westbound direction between the Keeaumoku Street Overpass and the Ward Avenue Overpass
  • Wednesday, September 24, left lane in the westbound direction between Ainakoa Avenue and University Avenue.
  • Thursday, September 25, left lane in the westbound direction between the University Avenue onramp and the Pali Highway off-ramp (Exit 21B).

2) DOWNTOWN TO KALIHI (Night Work)

Right lane closure on the H-1 Freeway in the westbound direction from the Pali Highway on-ramp to the School Street off-ramp (Exit 21A) on Tuesday morning, September 23, from 1:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., for shoulder landscaping maintenance. During work hours, the School Street off-ramp will be closed. Motorists are advised to use alternate
routes to School Street, such as Houghtailing Street (Exit 20B) or, Palama Street (Exit 20C).

3) WAIPAHU TO AIEA (Night Work)
Left and center lane closures on the H-1 Freeway in the eastbound direction from the Waipahu Street
Overpass to the Aiea Heights Drive Overpass on Sunday night, September 21, through Friday morning,
September 26, from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., nightly, for installation of highway markers.


--- H-2 FREEWAY ---

1) MILANI INTERCHANGE (Night & Day Work)
Various daytime and nighttime lane closures near the H-2 Freeway Mililani Interchange from Sunday, September 21, through Friday, September 26, for pavement resurfacing on the following dates and locations:

9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly:

  • Sunday night, September 21, through Wednesday morning, September 24
  1. Northbound H-2 Freeway off-ramp to Mililani Mauka (Exit 5A) will be closed. Northbound motorists wishing to enter Mililani Mauka should proceed to the following Mililani Town off-ramp (Exit 5B) to Meheula Parkway, and U-turn at Kuahelani Avenue.
  2. Mililani Mauka-bound lanes on Meheula Parkway will be closed from Ainamakua Drive to the loop on-ramp to H-2 Freeway in the southbound direction. A contraflow will be in effect, using one Mililani Town-bound lane.

  • Wednesday night, September 24
  1. Mililani Town-bound lanes on Meheula Parkway will be closed from the top of the loop on-ramp to the H-2 Freeway to the southbound H-2 Freeway off-ramp (Exit 5) to Mililani Town. A contraflow will be in effect to Kuahelani Avenue.
  2. Southbound H-2 Freeway off-ramp to Mililani Town and Mililani Mauka (Exit 5) will be closed. Southbound motorists wishing to enter Mililani should use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway, or proceed on H-2 Freeway to the Ka Uka Boulevard offramp (Exit 2), re-enter H-2 Freeway in the northbound direction, and enter Mililani via Exits 5A or 5B.
  3. Southbound H-2 Freeway loop on-ramp from Mililani Mauka will be closed. Honolulubound motorists should proceed on Meheula Parkway, U-turn at Kuahelani Avenue and access H-2 Freeway from the Mililani Mauka-bound on-ramp.

  • Thursday night, September 25,
  1. northbound H-2 Freeway off-ramp to Mililani Town (Exit 5B) will be closed. Northbound motorists wishing to enter Mililani Town should take the previous, Mililani Mauka off-ramp (Exit 5A), proceed on Meheula Parkway and U-turn on Ainamakua Drive.

8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily:
  • Monday, September 22, to Friday, September 26
  1. The southbound H-2 Freeway on-ramp from Mililani Town will be closed. Honolulu-bound motorists are advised to proceed on Meheula Parkway, U-turn on Ainamakua Drive, and take the H-2 Freeway loop on-ramp from Mililani Mauka, or, use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway.
  • Monday only, September 22
  1. The northbound H-2 Freeway off-ramp to Mililani Town (Exit 5B) will be closed. Mililani Town-bound motorists approaching from Honolulu, should take the previous Mililani Mauka off-ramp (Exit 5A), proceed on Meheula Parkway and U-turn on Ainamakua Drive, or use alternate routes such as Kamehameha Highway.

--- H-201 MOANALUA FREEWAY ---

1) MIDDLE STREET TO FUNSTON ROAD (Night Work)

Right lane closure on the H-201 Moanalua Freeway in the westbound direction, from the Middle Street Overpass to Funston Road Overpass on Wednesday morning, September 24, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., for shoulder landscape maintenance.

--- H-3 FREEWAY ---

1) CLOSURES FOR DRAIN MAINTENANCE

Intermittent left lane closures on the H-3 Freeway in the Honolulu-bound direction between the H-3 Tunnel and H-201 Moanalua Freeway on Tuesday, September 23, through Wednesday, September 24, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily for drain cleaning and maintenance.

--- FARRINGTON HIGHWAY ---

1) KAPOLEI (Weekend Night Work)

Alternating single lane closures on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction from Kamokila Boulevard to Kalaeloa Boulevard from 9:00 p.m. Friday night, September 19, to 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning, September 20, for pavement striping.

2) WAIPAHU TO MAKAHA

Roving lane closures on Farrington Highway in the westbound direction from Paiwa Street to Makua Valley Road, on Wednesday, September 24, through Friday, September 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily, for pothole repairs.

--- KAHEKILI HIGHWAY ---

1) LANDSCAPING PROJECT CONTINUES

Possible left lane closures on Kahekili Highway from Kulukeoe Street to Haiku Road in both directions on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for median planter box construction.

2) TREE TRIMMING BEGINS
Right lane closures on Kahekili Highway in the Kaneohe-bound direction between Kamehameha Highway in Kahaluu, and Likelike Highway in Kaneohe, on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for tree trimming.

Completion of this project is anticipated to be by the end of November 2008. Certified arborists determined that about 130 Ironwood and Albizia trees lining Kahekili Highway may be trimmed due to proximity to the guardrail and roadway. An additional 10 trees may be removed due to rot, instability, or proximity to the roadway.

--- KALANIANAOLE HIGHWAY ---

1) HAWAII KAI TO KAILUA
Single lane closures on Kalanianaole Highway between Kealahou Street and Kamehameha Highway at Castle Junction on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., daily, for lane striping.

--- KAMEHAMEHA HIGHWAY ---

1) MILILANI TO WHEELER AAF

All lanes will be closed on Kamehameha Highway in the southbound direction between Lehua Road and Waikalani Drive on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for pavement resurfacing. During construction hours, southbound traffic will be contraflowed using one northbound lane.

2) WAHIAWA TO WAIALUA

Roving single lane closures on Kamehameha Highway and Farrington Highway in both directions from Kamananui Road to Mokuleia Beach Park on Monday, September 22, to Tuesday, September 23, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for pavement repairs.

3) KUALOA TO KAAAWA
Intermittent right lane closures on Kamehameha Highway in the northbound direction between Kualoa Regional Park Road and Polinalina Road, on Wednesday, September 24, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for shoulder guardrail repairs.

--- NIMITZ HIGHWAY ---

1) DOWNTOWN

Left lane closure on Nimitz Highway in the westbound direction between Alakea Street and River Street on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for median landscaping work.


--- PALI HIGHWAY ---

1) WEEKEND TREE TRIMMING (Weekend Work)

Right lane closures on Pali Highway in the Kailua-bound direction from Nuuanu Pali Drive to Kamehameha Highway at Castle Junction on Saturday, September 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for roadside tree trimming.


--- ALA MOANA BOULEVARD ---

1) FORT STREET TO PIIKOI STREET (Night Work)

Multiple lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions from Fort Street to Piikoi Street on Sunday night, September 21, through Friday morning, September 26, from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly, for curb construction, pavement striping, and manhole adjustments. To avoid delays, motorists are advised to use Queen Street or South King Street as alternate routes.

2) WAIKIKI
Lane closures on Ala Moana Boulevard at the following dates and times:

Daytime:
• Single lane closures in both directions between Kalakaua Avenue and Holomoana Street on Monday, September 22, to Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, for street light and traffic signal duct line installations and driveway, sidewalk and curb construction.

Nighttime:
• Two lane closures from Hobron Lane to the Ala Wai Bridge in the westbound direction on Monday night, September 22, to Tuesday morning, September 23, from 7:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly for paving work.
• Two lane closures from Holomoana Street to Hobron Lane in the eastbound direction from 7:30
p.m. to 5:00 a.m., nightly, for paving work:

o Tuesday night, September 23, to Wednesday morning, September 24, two leftmost lanes will be closed.

o Wednesday night, September 24, to Thursday morning, September 25, two rightmost lanes will be closed.

This improvements project will include pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, the addition of a fourth eastbound lane from Hobron Lane to Kalia Road, the lengthening of left-turn stacking lanes onto Hobron Lane and Kalia Road, center median landscaping enhancements designed in consultation with the Outdoor Circle, replacement of highway lighting with decorative lighting similar to Kalakaua Avenue, and the reconstruction of portions of pedestrian sidewalks and driveways.
These road improvements will be paid for by the Hilton Hotels Corporation as part of a larger development surrounding the construction of The Grand Waikikian Tower, adjacent to the Hilton Hawaiian Village Beach Resort & Spa. Hilton has also established a construction information hotline at 948-7600 and an informational website at www.villagerejuvenation.com. Project completion is anticipated in December 2008.


--- FORT WEAVER ROAD ---

1) EWA

Alternating left and right lane closures on Fort Weaver Road in the southbound direction between Old Fort Weaver Road and Renton Road, on Monday, September 22, through Friday September 26, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for electrical conduit installation

The work is part of Phase II of a project to widen Fort Weaver Road from four lanes to six, adding an additional traffic lane in each direction from Aawa Drive to Geiger Road. Phase II is expected to be completed in mid-2009 at a total cost of $59.85 million, 80% of which will paid for with federal funds and 20% by state funds. Phase I of the project was completed in August 2006 and widened Fort Weaver Road from four-to-six lanes from Farrington Highway to Aawa Drive.

--- KUNIA ROAD ---

1) EWA (Weekend Work)
Roving single lane closures on Kunia Road from the Kunia Interchange to Wilikina Road, in both directions, on Saturday, September 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., for shoulder lane maintenance work.

2) EWA

Roving single lane closures on Kunia Road in both directions on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., daily, for shoulder pavement repair.

--- PUULOA ROAD ---


1) PUULOA IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT (Weekend Work)

Various 24-hour lane closures near the Puuloa Road and Salt Lake Boulevard Intersection, between the H-201 Moanalua Freeway and Mokumoa Street, for pavement reconstruction from Friday, September 19, to Monday, September 22, at the following locations:

Puuloa Road
o Multiple lanes in the southbound direction will be closed through the intersection. Motorists wishing to access Salt Lake Boulevard will be directed to proceed through the intersection, turn left on Mokumoa Street, turn left on Mapunapuna Street, and access Salt Lake Boulevard via Pukoloa Street.
o Left turn lane to Salt Lake Boulevard in the northbound direction will be closed. Northbound motorists wishing to access Salt Lake Boulevard are advised to use the Pukoloa Street detour.
o Two rightmost lanes in the northbound direction will be closed at the Pukoloa Street intersection.
o Through lanes in all directions are allowed.

Salt Lake Boulevard

o Right turn lane to Puuloa Road in the southbound direction will be closed. Southbound traffic will be directed to proceed across the intersection to Pukoloa Street, turn right on Mapunapuna Street, turn right on Mokumoa Street, and re-access Puuloa Road at the next intersection.

Electronic messageboards and detour signs will be placed in and around the construction site, and special duty officers will be directing traffic at key intersections. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes where possible:

• Motorists traveling west on H-201 Moanalua Freeway into the Salt Lake area are advised to take the Moanalua Road Off-ramp (Exit 2), turn right on Ala Aolani Street, and turn left to Ala Napunani Street.

• Motorists traveling east on H-201 Moanalua Freeway into the Salt Lake area are advised to exit at the Red Hill Off-Ramp (Exit 2), proceed past the Kapuna Street Overpass, and turn right onto Ala Napunani Street.

2) PUULOA IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
Various lane closures on Puuloa Road between Kamehameha Highway and Salt Lake Boulevard on Monday, September 22, through Thursday, September 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, at the following locations:
• Pukoloa Street, right turn lane to Puuloa Road will be closed for curb and gutter construction. Motorists wishing to access Puuloa Road in the northbound direction are advised to use Mokumoa Street
• Mokumoa Street and Mapunapuna Place, single lane closures between Puuloa Road and Mapunapuna Street for drainage work. Contraflows will be effect.

--- PACIFIC STREET ---

1) NIMITZ HIGHWAY INTERSECTION

Alternating single lane closures on Pacific Street in the northbound direction between the Nimitz Highway eastbound and westbound lanes, on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily, for electrical service equipment work.
