Kauai Lane Closures

For the week of Saturday, September 20, to Friday, September 26.

--- KAUMUALII HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Intermittent delays of no more than fifteen minutes may be expected in both directions on Kaumualii Highway on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, during construction activities at the following locations:         

  • In Lawai, east of the Piko Road Intersection, near Mile Post 9.8.  Lanes in both directions will be narrowed for permit work on the highway.  Completion of this project is anticipated by the end of October 2008.
  • In Lawai, west of the Koloa Road Intersection, near Mile Post 10.7.  The speed limit in this area has been reduced and travel lanes narrowed and shifted temporarily, for shoulder work.  Completion of this project is anticipated by the end of October 2008.
  • In Kalaheo, near the Hokua Road intersection, for drainage and shoulder lane improvements.  Completion of this project is anticipated by the end of October 2008.
  • In Kekaha, between the Kekaha Road Intersection and the Mamo Road Intersection. Work on the creation of roadways into the Hokuaina Beach Estates subdivision on the south side of the highway is in progress.  The project is ongoing and is expected to be complete by December 2008.

 

--- KUHIO HIGHWAY ---

 

1)  VARIOUS LOCATIONS

Lane closures and intermittent delays of no more than fifteen minutes may be expected on Kuhio Highway in both directions on Monday, September 22, through Friday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., daily, during construction activities at the following locations:

  • Near Hanalei, between Kalihiwai Road and Kahiliholo Road, pavement striping work has begun. Alternating lane closures will occur in both directions, and the speed limit has been reduced. The project is anticipated to be complete by October 2008.

The Department of Transportation thanks our motorists for their continued patience throughout this project.

  • In Anahola, near the Pili Mai Ke Kai subdivision between Anahola Road and Kukuihale Road for intersection improvements and shoulder maintenance.  Completion of this project is anticipated in December 2008.
  • North of Kilauea Town at the Kolo Road intersection for intersection improvements.  Completion of this project is anticipated in December 2008.
