4 Rivers Lottery -- 2009 Boating Season

The Main Salmon, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Selway, and Snake-Hells Canyon Rivers, located in central Idaho and eastern Oregon, offer a broad range of floating and recreation opportunities. These exciting rivers provide scenery, steep canyons, wildlife, and whitewater thrills for thousands of river runners each summer during the floating season.

Non-commercial permits to float these four rivers (the Main Salmon, Middle Fork of the Salmon, Selway, and Snake-Hells Canyon) are allocated through a computerized lottery system. Private (non-commercial) floaters may apply for launch reservations for the four Rivers on one application form.

2009 Four Rivers Lottery Applications

Middle Fork of the Salmon River: Calls for pre and post season launch reservations for 2009 will be accepted beginning October1, 2008 at 8 am Mountain time. Call (208) 879-4101 to make your reservation. There is no waiting list.

Launch Dates Calendars

The lottery drawing is usually accomplished by mid to late February. All applicants will be sent a Results notice telling them whether they were successful or not. Applicants listing an email address will receive their notice via email. Applicants who did not list an email address on their application, or rejected emails, will receive a letter via regular mail. This site will be updated once the lottery has been run.

Because of privacy concerns, we do not give out success information over the telephone.

Cancellations: Cancelled launches will be allocated by telephone only on a first come, first served basis after the initial lottery in February and continuing throughout the year. Collect calls will not be accepted. See the specifics for each river listed below.
