Cooperative observers are very much a part of the National Weather Service...collecting much needed weather data. To read more about the observers, look below.  
50 Yr Institutional Award
 
Weather observations have been taken at the Narrows Dam (Pike County, Arkansas) for 50 years as of June, 2001. Employees at the dam have taken daily measurements of precipitation. These measurements are eventually sent to the National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina and published to become a part of the permanent record of the world's weather.

For their efforts, employees at the Narrows Dam received a 50 Year Institutional Award.

The award was presented by Jimmy Russell, Data Acquistion Program Manager...and Mike Reid, Hydrometeorological Technician...both from the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
