Mr. Bruce
Hunnicutt of Gravelly, Arkansas has been a cooperative observer for
the National Weather Service for 25 years. He has collected rainfall data and river
stage readings on a daily basis. His measurements are sent to the National Climatic
Data Center in Asheville, North Carolina and eventually published to become a part of the
permanent record of the world's weather. The rainfall data collected by Mr. Hunnicutt is
primarily used to support climatology and forecast verification in the Parthenon area and
is also used to support river forecasting, agricultural, construction and recreational
interests of the area. The river stage readings are used for computing inflow to
Lake Nimrod by the Army Corps of Engineers and also for river forecast purposes.
For his efforts,
Mr. Hunnicutt received a 25 Year Length-of-Service Award on September 28, 1999. |
