Gulf of
Mexico Region Spills ≥ 50 Barrels (2,100 gallons) 1976 February 29, 1976 - Gulf Oil Corporation Corporation/Chevron
Remarks: Several leaks caused by internal corrosion were discovered in the submerged gathering line from the platform to the Bay Marchand shore facility. The initial leak was in state waters snagged by boat anchor. Other leaks were in Federal waters. Response: repairs were made by replacing pipe where needed. (The 443 bbl spilled may be the spillage in Federal waters only--a 10 bbl spill recorded the same day in BM 3 is possibly the state portion.) October 19, 1976 - Chevron Oil Company
Remarks: A loading hose broke while diesel fuel was being pumped from the motor vessel D.V. Levy to the B platform. Break was not detected for some time. Response: shut off pump. December 18, 1976 - Penzoil Company & Placid
Remarks: A shrimp trawl was dragged across the submerged tie-in where Placid's 10" pipeline joins Pennzoil's 14" Bonita pipeline, pulling loose a one-inch ball valve and nipple. Response: installed one 1" ball valve on the 10" oil pipeline. Privacy | Disclaimers | Accessibility | Topic Index | FOIA Last Updated: 08/13/08, 08:05 AM |
