Project History
The NAIS Project is classified as a major systems acquisition project. Since its inception, the project has passed the following key milestones:
- Marine Transportation Security Act was passed in November 2002
- Key Decision Point (KDP) 1 DHS Investment Review Board (IRB) was approved on September 29, 2004
- Project Charter was signed on December 14, 2004
- DHS Acquisition Decision Memorandum for KDP 1 was signed on January 12, 2005, formalizing the achievement of KDP 1.
- Operational Requirements Document approved on April 28, 2006
- Acquisition Plan Approved on July 5, 2006
